Celtic head coach hits back at Rangers boss over huddle complaints

Rangers host Celtic on Monday in the last Old Firm game of the SWPL season with only goal-difference separating the sides at the top.

Celtic women’s team head coach Elena Sadiku has hit back at Rangers boss Jo Potter after her claims that the Hoops used their pre-match huddle as a disruption tactic during last week’s semi-final.

Rangers kept their treble hopes on tracks by beating their city rivals 2-0 to reach the final in an underwhelming Scottish Cup clash at Hampden on Saturday.

And both sides are now joint on points at the top of the SWPL following Celtic’s 2-2 draw with Glasgow City on Wednesday as Potter’s side were beating Hearts 3-0.

The Hoops are now ahead on goal-difference only with four games still to play including the last Old Firm game of the season that will take place at Broadwood on Monday.

Potter was clearly unhappy at the time Celtic players spent in the huddle at Hampden and said after the game that she felt they were trying to disrupt her side and insisted the match officials should have done more to cut it short.

But Sadiku disagrees with that and said: “I think what Jo Potter says needs to stand for herself.

“We always do the same thing before games but I think she just wants to have something to say and be tough about it, so I don’t care what she’s saying.

“If she says that that’s our mindset, then she can just think that because I couldn’t care less.

“I just think If there’s something that she wants to say to, I don’t know, to feel like she’s better or whatever, like let her say so, I don’t care.

“We always do the same thing. If you see the previous game, they always do the same thing.

“So I don’t know where she got that from, but if that’s something that she wants to focus on, then let her focus on it.”
