Celtic have warned their supporters to remain “vigilant” after reporting that a number of fans have been “targeted” in Zagreb ahead of the Champions League clash with Dinamo.

Supporters have travelled to Croatia for the crucial match, which could see Celtic take a huge step towards the knockout rounds.

In a statement released on Monday, Celtic said: “Regrettably, we are aware of a number of incidents where Celtic supporters have been targeted in Zagreb.

“We are currently looking to liaise with these fans who have been affected and we will offer all the support and assistance we can.

“Clearly, we would ask all our supporters travelling to be vigilant.”

The statement also advised fans of the rules for entering the Maksimir Stadium, saying that they would not be able to carry anything into the ground that could be thrown, including e-cigarettes and phone power banks.

And days after the club was charged by the SPFL over the use of flares at Hampden, Celtic told fans that “the possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited, due to the serious risk to spectator safety”.

“Celtic encourages our supporters to support the team positively,” the statement said. “The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at future fixtures.”

Zagreb Police advice to supporters is to comply with police advice and stewards at all times and to respect the city during their visit.
