Celtic have named a team to face Hibernian without a host of star players after 13 of their players were told to self-isolate after Christopher Jullien’s positive coronavirus test.

The club revealed on Monday that the players, and three members of staff including manager Neil Lennon and assistant John Kennedy, were self-isolating after Jullien had tested positive for Covid-19 after returning form the club’s training camp in Dubai.

Celtic said the club was “hugely disappointed” by the decision and insisted it had done everything possible to keep players and staff safe.

While professional sport is exempt from many quarantine rules, talks were held between Celtic and the government after Jullien tested positive, with an NHS team identifying the close contacts and those affected being told to isolate.

The game against Hibs was given the green light to go ahead, and Celtic have been forced to pick a team from a limited squad.

Hibs had requested that their opposition underwent further testing on the day of the game but were refused.

Coach Gavin Strachan will take charge of the Celtic team for the match in Glasgow.

Conor Hazard starts in goal with Vaisilis Barkas and Scott Bain missing from the squad.

Shane Duffy returns to the back line alongside Stephen Welsh, Diego Laxalt and Jeremie Frimpong.

Ismaila Soro, David Turnbull, Callum McGregor, and Tom Rogic are in midfield with Cameron Harper and Mikey Johnston in attack.

Greg Taylor is the only regular first team player on the bench.
