Celtic are in talks with Rubin Kazan to sign Swedish international defender Carl Starfelt.
The Parkhead club are working to make the 26-year-old part of new manager Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild of the Celtic squad and are in discussions with the Russian side about a move .
The player is understood to be keen on a move to Glasgow.
Starfelt came through at IFK Gothenburg before moving to Kazan and made 31 appearances for Rubin last year. The defender has three years left on his contract.
Though not a part of Sweden’s Euro 2020 squad, the centre-back was called up to his national team for the first time last year and has earned three international caps.
Celtic have already signed Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide this summer, with a number of players already having left since last season, and question marks over the future of several current players.
Postecoglou, who took over last month, is currently putting his squad through their paces at their training camp in Wales, but is working hard to add to his options ahead of their first Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland on July 20.
