Celtic will be in the Champions League play-off round after they completed their League Phase campaign with a 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa.

Aston Villa flew out of the blocks and scored twice in the first five minutes, with Morgan Rogers clinical on both occasions to the delight of the home fans.

Celtic didn’t let their heads go down though, and fought their way back into the match. Adam Idah pulled a goal back with a well-taken finish in the 36th minute and then drew his team level when he turned in a cross two minutes later.

Villa regained the lead after an hour when Ollie Watkins scored and the England striker had a chance to put his side further ahead but slipped when taking a penalty and put his shot high and wide.

The hosts wrapped up the scoring in the 90th minute when Rogers completed his hat-trick after Watkins forced an error in the Celtic back-line.

The result means Celtic finish in 21st place in the table and will play Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the play-off round.
