Celtic are still awaiting a decision over whether supporters will be able to watch their team in action in the away leg of the Champions League play-off against Bayern Munich.
The club are facing a potential ban on away fans following repeated use of pyrotechnics at European games and will learn their fate at a UEFA disciplinary hearing.
The date for that hearing has not been set, and the club has said that despite some reports, the situation has not been resolved.
UEFA handed Celtic a £17,000 fine last year after flares were lit at the League Phase game at Borussia Dortmund, and also imposed a suspended ban on selling away tickets that would come into force if the incident occurred again at any game in the following two years.
At the team’s match against Aston Villa in Birmingham last week, a smoke bomb was thrown from the away section and a fresh disciplinary charge has been brought against the club.
If that charge is upheld, there will be no Celtic fans allowed in the stadium for the second leg of the knock-out tie against Bayern at the Allianz Arena on February 18.
Celtic say they will “make robust representation” and make every effort to have fans admitted but they did warn fans to bear the situation in mind when considering booking travel.
Reports on Wednesday claimed that the ban would not be imposed but Celtic have now issued a statement saying that is not the case and with less than two weeks until they travel to play Bayern, a date for the hearing has not yet been set.
A brief Celtic statement, posted on social media, read: “Please note, contrary to media reports regarding Celtic’s forthcoming match against Bayern Munich in Germany, Celtic Football Club has not as yet been informed of any timescale with regards to a decision being made on away tickets.”
