Celtic scored an injury-time equaliser to secure a draw with St Mirren on the day they are presented with the Premiership trophy.

Evergreen winger James Forrest left it late with a goal that made it 1-1 and kept his run of scoring for 16 consecutive seasons alive.

A header from Jonah Ayunga looked like it was enough to secure a win for Stephen Robinson’s men in their last game of the season.

However, even a victory wouldn’t have been enough to get the Saints into Europe after Dundee United beat Aberdeen at Tannadice.

As they so often do, the Hoops kept going until the very end and earned a share of the points with the last kick of the ball.

The draw never dampened the party spirit in the east end of Glasgow as Celtic celebrated their 55th title, which was wrapped up weeks ago.

That makes it four in a row for Brendan Rodgers’ men, who have only missed out on one title in the last 14.

They now turn their attention towards next week’s Scottish Cup final as they aim to continue their stranglehold over domestic honours and claim a sixth treble in nine years.

St Mirren went into the game knowing they could potentially sneak into a European spot if they got a result and Dundee United lost to Aberdeen.

Celtic had the best of a largely uneventful first half without creating too much in terms of clear cut chances.

Then just five minutes after the break Ayunga popped up with a header to give the visitors a lead and potential European lifeline with Aberdeen winning at Tannadice.

But Jim Goodwin’s men hit a quick fire double in Tayside to move back into the driving seat and up to fourth in the table.

Rodgers made a raft of changes in the second half as they looked to salvage something from the game, with Forrest brought on as he chased his first goal of the season.

And he got it right at the end when he struck to make it 1-1 in the 94th minute.

The Hoops then celebrated with 60,000 others in the packed stadium by collecting their medals and lifting the trophy high yet again.
