Celtic’s Auston Trusty will miss the crucial title clash against Rangers as well as a further two league games after the SFA dismissed his red card appeal.

The centre back was given his marching orders with just 15 minutes left to play after an incident involving Hibs midfielder Jamie McGrath on Sunday.

During a corner, the American appeared to strike the Hibs player in the arm. Following VAR intervention, Matthew MacDermid showed Trusty a red card.

Ten-man Celtic could not hold out for a draw in Edinburgh and fell further behind Hearts and Rangers in the title race after Kai Andrews scored the winner for the Hibees.

The club appealed the decision following the match, stating that believed Trusty was wrongfully dismissed.

However, the SFA has confirmed that the defender will serve a three-match ban due to this being his second red card of the season.

He will be unavailable for Celtic’s Premiership matches against Rangers, Aberdeen and Motherwell.
