Ange Postecoglou admitted it was an all too familiar story for his side after they were left with two goals from four Champions League games despite creating numerous chances in each one.
Celtic lost 2-0 to RB Leipzig in Glasgow to end any hopes of reaching the knockout stages for the first time in a decade.
The Celtic manager told BT Sport: “It was a game we were well in, but it’s been the story of our campaign so far – missed chances have cost us.
“It’s difficult – you are talking about the highest level of club football and there’s different stresses and anxieties around taking your chances at this level. That’s why clubs spend hundreds of millions trying to solve that problem.
“All we can do is continue putting our players in those situations and I’m sure they will learn from it.”
Celtic’s 2-0 defeat leaves them bottom of Group F with one point from four matches and with no chance of making second place following Shakhtar Donetsk’s draw against Real Madrid in Warsaw.
The Scottish champions can still finish third but would need to beat Shakhtar and then get a result in the Bernabeu.
