Dundee United’s Mark Connolly has been charged by the Scottish FA with bringing the game into disrepute and breaking strict rules over coronavirus protocols.
Newspaper reports earlier this month said that Connolly has been involved in an argument with a taxi driver after a night out, when he refused to wear a face covering.
United launched an internal investigation at the time and now the governing body has called the player to account to see if he broke Scottish FA rules.
Players are required to follow all public health guidelines as part of the return to play protocols.
Connolly has been charged with breaking two rules: one relating to the Scottish FA’s guidelines and regulations, and the other regarding behaviour that brings Scottish football into disrepute.
These are the same charges brought against Celtic’s Boli Bolingoli and eight Aberdeen players, which saw them banned for failing to observe the strict rules in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
