Dare Olufunwa has left St Johnstone by mutual consent more than a year after his last appearance for the club.

The 23-year-old defender joined Saints on a two-year deal in August 2023 following his departure from Liverpool, where he played for their under-23s.

However, Olufunwa managed just 11 appearances for the Perth side, all under former managers Steven MacLean and Craig Levein.

Having not played for Saints since February last year, the former Southampton academy player spent some time on loan at William Hill Championship side Hamilton earlier this season and has now departed McDiarmid Park.

“We can confirm that defender Dare Olufunwa’s contract has been mutually terminated with immediate effect,” Saints said on Tuesday.

“We thank Dare for his service and wish him all the very best for the future.”
