Aberdeen have reached an agreement to sign Kelle Roos when the goalkeeper’s contract with Derby County expires.
The 30-year-old will join Jim Goodwin’s squad this summer and compete with Joe Lewis for a first team place at Pittodrie.
The signing comes after goalkeeper Gary Woods left Aberdeen after having his contract terminated.
Roos becomes Aberdeen’s sixth addition of the summer as Goodwin looks to put his mark on the squad and improve on the team’s 2021/22 season, where they ended up in tenth place in the Premiership table.
“Kelle brings with him a wealth of experience and he will help to enhance the goalkeeping team we have at the club,” Goodwin told Aberdeen’s website.
“It’s vital we add quality to the squad this season so we’ve taken the time to identify the correct players with the attributes we feel will have a positive impact. Having played a significant number of games in the English Championship, Kelle ticks all those boxes for us.
“He is a very confident character and I’m sure he will be a popular addition to the dressing room.”
The Dons have also announced that defender Declan Gallagher has left the club after his contract was ended.
The 31-year-old, who has eight Scotland caps, played 30 times for Aberdeen last season but was not part of Goodwin’s plans for the future after the club signed Liam Scales on loan and added Anthony Stewart to the squad.
