Ross County boss Don Cowie believes there is still plenty more to come from in-form midfielder Noah Chilvers.

The 24-year-old joined the Staggies from Colchester last summer and after a slow start to his County career, he has been instrumental in their upturn in results since Boxing Day.

“I believe we’ve got an outstanding footballer at the club in Noah,” Cowie told the County website. “I believe there’s even more to come from him. What’s really pleasing is the impact he’s having on the games, but there’s more to come.

“It’s up to us to try and prod that out of him and keep pushing him. He’ll be the first to admit that in terms of his performances, the way he plays is a result of what’s around him and the work that goes on to give him that freedom.”

County have won five of their last nine league matches to climb to eighth in the table and Englishman Chilvers hopes they can take another step towards survival when they visit bottom side St Johnstone on Wednesday, where they look to build on successive victories over Motherwell and Dundee.

“It was really important to get those six points,” said Chilvers. “We’ve been performing really well for the past two or three months but maybe the points haven’t always come, so it was massive to get those two wins back to back.

“We’re just looking to try and keep that run going. It’s vital to keep playing the way we’ve been performing on Wednesday. We’ve had a couple of tough games against St Johnstone (a 3-3 draw and a 3-0 defeat) so it’s about trying to bounce back from that.”
