Doolan confident Thistle will bring A-game to playoff clash at Raith

Kris Doolan is confident his Partick Thistle side will bring their A-game to Kirkcaldy as they look to overturn a defeat in the second-leg of their Premiership playoff clash.

Raith Rovers ran out 2-1 winners at Firhill in the first-leg as both sides look to continue their journey to the top-flight for next season.

The winners of the tie will play whoever finishes second bottom of the Premiership, which will be either St Johnstone or Ross County, for a place amongst the big boys.

And the Jags’ manager believes his side have the right mentality and enough goals in them to overcome the team that finished second in the Championship.

Doolan said: “Everybody is ready to go, as you can imagine everyone is wanting to play and feeling good, we have recovered really well and we are looking forward to the game.

“The mentality is great, this is when you see the experienced team and the experience in the squad, I think if you asked our players, they don’t even feel as if there is a goal in it because it is so tight between the teams we don’t feel like we are behind, we feel like we are coming up here if everything to gain and nothing to lose.

“Our mentality is that if we win the game then we go through. So we are going to have a go at it and we want to get at Raith Rovers from the first minute to the last.

“I think Raith go into the game as favourites because they finished second in the league and they finished there for a reason, but I think the mentality from our squad and our club is that we can come up here and get the win.

“We are a team who are designed to score goals and that is what we have done all season, we will bring a big support with us as well, so it is all set up for a cracker.

“The key for us is to panic, I believe in the players we have here and the squad we have here, I am confident everyone will contribute and bring their A-game at some point.”

At the bottom of the Premiership St Johnstone are currently two points behind Ross County in 11th place meaning they will need to beat Motherwell and hope Aberdeen beat Ross County to avoid a playoff.
