Dundee manager Mark McGhee will not be in the stadium when his team face St Mirren on Wednesday after he tested positive for Covid.
McGhee returned a positive test as part of routine testing at the club and will now self-isolate.
Dundee are in action in a rescheduled Premiership match that could prove vital to their hopes of avoiding relegation this season. The Dark Blues are currently bottom of the league table but could leapfrog 11th-placed St Johnstone with a win over the Buddies.
McGhee, who took over from James McPake after the manager was sacked last month, would not have been in the dug-out in any case, as he is serving a six-match ban.
A brief statement on the club website read: “Dundee Football Club can confirm that our scheduled matchday Covid-19 testing has returned a positive result for manager Mark McGhee.
“All other members of the coaching staff and players who tested today returned negative results.
“The club is cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities.”
McGhee said: “It’s disappointing that I will not be at tonight’s match but I have full faith in the coaching staff and players.”
“I’ll watch the match from the house and will have the same contact with the bench that I have had from the stand in recent weeks.”
“Thankfully, I’m fully vaccinated and feeling OK.”
