Dundee United are set to face AZ Alkmaar or Tuzla City in the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.
The Terrors will take on either the Dutch outfit or the runners-up in the top flight of Bosnia and Herzegovina on their first appearance in European competition for ten years.
Meanwhile, Motherwell’s reward should they overcome Sligo Rovers in the second qualifying round is a tie against Sparta Prague or Viking Stavanger.
The Czechs finished third in their domestic league last season, 12 points behind eventual winners Viktoria Plzen, while Viking are five points off Norwegian Eliteserien leaders Molde at the midway point of their campaign.
The Steelmen face the Irish side at Fir Park on Thursday, with the return seven days later.
United, whose last European tie was a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Dynamo Moscow in 2012, enter the third preliminary round on August 4, while the second leg takes place on August 11.
Motherwell last reached the Europa League third qualifying round in 2020-21, losing 3-0 to Israeli representatives Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
However that tie was played over just one leg as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
United kick off their cinch Premiership campaign at Kilmarnock on Saturday, July 30 while Motherwell are away at St Mirren a day later.
