Dundee United’s Will Ferry gets goosebumps when he thinks of any abuse he may receive from the home fans at Easter Road on Saturday.
Jim Goodwin’s men resume their William Hill Premiership campaign following the international break with a keenly-anticipated clash with Hibernian in front of what is sure to be a big crowd.
The Terrors’ stand-in skipper, who signed for the club from Cheltenham in 2024, enjoyed the 2-0 derby win over Dundee in United’s last outing and anticipates more fervour in Leith in the tea-time kick-off.
He said: “I love it to be honest, I don’t think it affects me negatively at all.
“Good atmospheres everywhere we go, whether it is negative towards us or positive when it’s our own fans, I just love it.
“Honestly, it’s the best thing being a footballer, just that noise when you walk out, the noise when you might get a bit of abuse going down buying a free-kick or even when you’re up against it, it just gives me goosebumps thinking about it. It’s the best thing, honestly.
“I’ll be going there looking forward to it, looking forward to getting abuse from the crowd and our fans singing our names.
“For me personally it’s amazing and I’m sure the team will be able to handle it as well.
“We all know how difficult it’s going to be. They’re a very well-organised team, they’re very good at what they do.
“They’ve clearly taken the form that they finished in last year into this year, so we’re not going to underestimate anything that comes from them.
“But at the same time, we’ve got to back ourselves to go there and do what we know we can do.
“It’s going to be a really good game. It’s going to be competitive, it’s going to be intense and that’s what we want to bring to the game, intensity and our competitive nature that I think we brought to the derby game.
“It’s the same sort of mentality, but we’re just going to focus on ourselves and give them the respect they deserve, but it’s down to us to go and perform.”
