The Dundee vs St Johnstone game at Dens Park has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Both teams were preparing for their first game of the new year and last before the Premiership’s winter break that will come after Tuesday’s fixtures.
However officials were called to a pitch inspection after heavy rainfall overnight and decided the game should be postponed.
It the second time in just over a week that a game at Dens has been called off with their game against Aberdeen on December 23 also falling victim to the elements.
A statement from Dundee said: “Following the referee’s pitch inspection this morning, today’s cinch Premiership match with St Johnstone has been postponed.
“Recent rainfall has meant the pitch has become waterlogged and the match has been called off.”
A new date for this fixture will be announced in due course.
Tony Docherty’s Dundee side currently sit seventh in the league on 22 points with St Johnstone in tenth place on 19 points.
The Dee could potentially drop to ninth on goal-difference going into the break if Aberdeen and Motherwell record big victories over Ross County and Hibernian respectively.
While Craig Levein’s side will drop to second bottom if Ross County beat the Dons at Dingwall.
Elsewhere on January 2, Rangers host Kilmarnock at Ibrox as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park and bottom side Livingston are looking for a much needed win against third placed Hearts at Almondvale.
In the later kick-off league leaders Celtic travel to Paisley to play St Mirren.
