Scottish AthleticsEilish McColgan has enjoyed a successful return to Scotland, setting a new European and British 10k road race record at the Great Scottish Run.
McColgan, who hasn’t raced outdoors in Scotland since the 2014 Commonwealth Games and she impressed in Glasgow once again, taking a second off her own record with a time of 30:18.
Lesley Bell took silver, clocking 36:33, an Ruth Joss was third with a time of 37:01.
Lewis Hannigan won the men’s 10km, with Callum Tharme and Jamie Burns in second and third place.
Callum Hawkins won the men’s half marathon in 1:03:35 ahead of Adam Craig and Callum’s brother Derek.
The race was McColgan’s final run of the season and caps an incredible year for the triple Olympian, who won four medals across the Commonwealth Games and European Championships, and has also set British records over 5km, 10km and the half-marathon.
