Eilish McColgan followed up her gold at the Commonwealth Games with a silver medal run in the 10,000m European Championships final.
The athlete claimed her first major title as she triumphed in the event in Birmingham but was beaten to the finish line in Munich by Turkey’s Yasemin Can.
The 31-year-old also won silver in the 5,000m event at the Games earlier this month.
She followed in the footsteps of mum Liz, who was crowned Commonwealth 10,000m champion in 1986 and 1990 as she recorded the biggest win of her career on August 4.
However, she was nine seconds behind Can at the Olympiastadion despite haring past Israel’s Lonah Chemtai Salpeter in the final stretch.
She crossed the line in 30:41.05,
