Elena Sadiku has urged Celtic fans to get behind her team as they look to reach the group stages of the Women’s Champions League.
The Hoops take on Ukrainian side FK Vorskla Poltava in the playoff round with the first-leg taking place at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Sunday.
North Lanarkshire will also host the second-leg that will be played the following Thursday, giving Celtic a real chance of following the men’s team into Europe’s elite competition.
Sadiku’s side have started the season strongly with eight wins and a draw from their first nine games in all competitions.
A 4-2 win over Montrose on Thursday put the Scottish champions top of the SWPL and they now turn their full attention to the UWCL.
The Swedish manager insists they will have a better chance of clearing the final qualification hurdle if they get a big backing from the Celtic faithful.
Speaking to STV Sport, she said: “We have amazing fans and they always show up.
“If we can bring out as many people as possible to support the girls then that would mean the world to me, and to the girls.
“Because we have an opportunity to write more history together, and I always say it, I just hope the fans show up and show us support, because it could be a magnificent thing to do together as a club again.
“To write history, and it’s not just any history, it is the Champions League group stage and that will be the first time ever.”
