FIFA have paid out a total of £1.65m to seven Scottish Premiership clubs for their players’ participation in the recent World Cup.

Celtic were handed the most due to number of days by the likes of Daizen Maeda, Josip Juranovic, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Aaron Mooy, who all played for teams that reached the latter stages, spent at the tournament.

They received just over £500k with their city rivals Rangers next in line with around £320k for Borna Barisic who, along with Juranovic, also played a part as Croatia reached the semi-finals.

Next on the list were Hearts, who had a string of players in the Australia squad that lost to eventual winners Argentina in the last-16, with £250,000 and Dundee United received £180,000.

Hibs were handed £178,000 for Martin Boyle’s time spent with the Socceroos, despite the winger being out injured for the whole tournament and St Johnstone were just behind with £160,000

Bottom of the list were St Mirren who received £60k despite the fact that their player Keanu Bacchus reached the last-16.

Because FIFA paid out £10k for every day a player was away, however the money for each player was shared among every team they had played for since the 20/21 season.

A total of £200m has been paid out to 440 clubs across the world with English Champions Manchester City top of the list with £3.5m.

They are closely followed by Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG.

English clubs shared more money than any other country with an astonishing 46 teams across their top five divisions included, as tiny Boreham Wood from the fifth tier were handed £24k.
