Ayr United have named former Scotland player David Hopkin as their new manager.
The Championship club confirmed that the 50-year-old has signed a two-year-deal at Somerset Park.
Hopkin earned seven caps and scored two goals for Scotland during a playing career that also seen him play for several English Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Leeds United.
He started and ended his 15-year career at hometown club Greenock Morton.
Since retiring as a player he has managed Livingston, Bradford City and Morton – who he left last year.
He will be in charge of Saturday’s trip to face league leaders Hearts at Tynecastle.
Ayr United chairman David Smith said: “We are delighted to get our man.
“The number and quality of applications were excellent and we thank everyone who showed interest in becoming the Manager of Ayr United.
“It was quite a task to shortlist the applications, and the candidates who were interviewed were all very strong.
“When we spoke to David it became obvious that there is a synergy between what we as a club want to achieve, and the aspirations and ambitions that he has for Ayr United.”
