Fraserburgh Football Club has launched an investigation after an opposition player was allegedly racially abused during a cup game on Wednesday.
The Highland League title challengers hosted junior outfit Hermes at Bellslea Park in the Aberdeenshire Shield quarter-final.
Following their 3-0 win, a statement from the Broch confirmed that they received reports of an opposition player being racially abused.
The club stated that the type of behaviour is “unacceptable” and work to identify the perpetrator is ongoing.
Once identified, Fraserburgh has said that the individual will be banned from attending any future games.
The statement read: “It is with deep regret that I must address this matter.
“On Wednesday night, an incident of racial abuse was directed at one of the Hermes FC players.
“Such behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and will never be tolerated at Bellslea Park or at any other ground.
“The potential damage this could cause to our club’s reputation and the wider consequences cannot be overstated. This is not who we are, and it is not what we stand for.
“To ensure accountability, we will take decisive action. We are working to identify the individual responsible, and once confirmed, they will be permanently banned from attending matches at our ground.
“Let it be clear: one person’s actions will not define this club.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
