Euro 2020 has finally kicked off following the opening ceremony in Rome.

Andrea Bocelli sang Italia 90 classic Nessun Dorma at the Stadio Olimpico before Italy and Turkey took to the field to open the tournament.

The competition, which is being held in various cities throughout the continent, kicks off a year later than rescheduled after the original dates were scrapped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wales and England will play their first group games over the weekend before Scotland take on Croatia at Hampden on Monday.

The month-long tournament will run until July 11 when the final takes place at Wembley.

Thousands of supporters were due to attend an organised fan-zone on Glasgow on Friday night.

Up to 6000 people each day are going to be able to watch Euros matches in the Glasgow Green area if they have a ticket.

Every game of the tournament will be shown at the green over the next 31 days.
