Rangers must beat Leipzig at Ibrox on Thursday night to have any chance of reaching the Europa League final.
A two-goal win will take them to Seville, while a single-goal victory in 90 minutes will force another half-hour of action.
They overturned a first-leg deficit against Braga in the quarter-finals, but if they are looking for further inspiration, here’s four times Rangers have won a European tie from behind.
Rangers v Hapoel Tel Aviv – UEFA Cup 2006/2007 (1-2 away, 4-0 home: Agg: 5-2)
Rangers put four past their Israeli opponents after beginning the Ibrox leg 2-1 down.
Barry Ferguson twice, Kris Boyd and Charlie Adam took advantage of woeful defending to transform the last-32 tie.
Rangers’ goalie that night was Allan McGregor, who will be between the sticks against Leipzig on Thursday. He enjoyed a quiet night watching his teammates run riot.
Next up were Spanish side Osasuna, who reached the quarter-finals with a 2-1 aggregate win.
Rangers v Maritimo – UEFA Cup 2004/05 (0-1 away, 1-0 home: Agg 1-1 – Rangers won 4-2 on penalties)
A nail-biting night at Ibrox saw Rangers level the tie in the 71st minute when Dado Prso swept home Gregory Vignal’s cross.
It went all the way to penalties and French full-back Vignal had the last word when he netted the decisive strike in the shoot-out.
That took Rangers into the group stages, where they finished fourth in a pool containing Amica Wronki, Grazer, AZ Alkmaar and Auxerre.
Rangers v Juventus – European Cup 1978/79 (0-1 away, 2-0 home: Agg 2-1)
Hard to argue this isn’t one of the greatest ever wins by a Scottish side in European competition.
Most of the Juventus starting 11 had played in the 1978 World Cup, just months before this tie.
Down 1-0 from the first leg in Turin, Rangers stunned the Italians at Ibrox with goals from Alex MacDonald and Gordon Smith.
Next up, John Greig’s side beat PSV Eindhoven before exiting in the quarter-finals to FC Koln from Germany.
Rangers v Shelbourne – UEFA Cup 1998/99 (5-3 away, 2-0 home: Agg 7-3)
The scoreline suggests an easy passage for Rangers – but the scoresheet tells us otherwise.
An expensive new side assembled by high-profile new boss Dick Advocaat found themselves 3-0 down after an hour against the Irish outfit before mounting a stunning comeback.
And the summer signing who pulled his side level on the night was none other than current manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was making his Rangers debut.
Two more late goals secured an away win, launching a European journey that saw off PAOK, Beitar Jerusalem and Bayer Leverkusen before ending at Parma’s hands.
