Steve Clarke was nonplussed to hear that he and his Scotland team were sharing a Glasgow city centre hotel with global superstar Katy Perry.
The national team are preparing for their 2026 World Cup qualifying double-header against Greece on Thursday and Belarus on Sunday, both games taking place at Hampden.
The UK leg of the American singer’s world tour kicked off in Glasgow on Tuesday but Clarke, 62, said: “I didn’t know she was there.
“I’ve heard the name. I’m sure if you played a couple of her songs I’d say, ‘oh I recognise that one’, but I couldn’t name you one song, I’m sorry.
“That’s no disrespect to Katy, but I’m from a different generation.”
