Hearts keeper Joel Pereira faces the axe for Accies clash

Hearts head coach Daniel Stendel is considering changing his goalkeeper for Saturday’s clash with Hamilton.

On-loan Manchester United stopper Joel Pereira has come in for criticism following recent performances.

Zdenek Zlamal or Colin Doyle could start the potentially crucial visit of Accies, who are just one point ahead of Hearts at the foot of the table.

Asked if he was contemplating a change, Stendel said: “Yes, but it’s normal for every position.

“What is the best? You need to look at what has happened in training and what has happened in the last games.

“For every position, not only goalkeepers, I like to speak with players on why we decided what.”

The Tynecastle clash could go a long way to settling the Premiership relegation battle, with Hearts currently bottom on 18 points, below Accies in 11th on 19.

Stendel hopes home support will help his side produce a strong performance.

He said: “I know we will have really good support tomorrow. We all understand how important the game is.

“What happens tomorrow does not decide the season but this is a big chance to show we are better in a game against our biggest competition at the moment.”
