Lee Johnson set to be named new manager of HibernianSNS Group

Hibernian have agreed terms with Lee Johnson to become their new manager.

The 40-year-old former Sunderland, Bristol City, Barnsley and Oldham boss is expected to be announced as the new man in charge at Easter Road before the weekend.

The Englishman, who briefly played for Hibs’ city rivals Hearts in 2006, is said to have impressed the board throughout their recruitment process.

Johnson succeeds Shaun Maloney, who was sacked in April after just four months in charge.

Hibs began the season under the management of Jack Ross, who had steered them to a third-place Premiership finish and the Scottish Cup final in the previous campaign.

After the disappointment of the last campaign, owner Ron Gordon and the Hibs hierarchy hope that Johnson can provide stability and take the team back to the top end of the Premiership table.
