Graham Carey netted an injury-time penalty as Livingston twice fought back from being behind to claim a point against Hibernian.

Referee Calum Scott pointed to the spot following a VAR intervention after Nicky Cadden handled and Carey made no mistake for the bottom side.

Hibs got off to the perfect start when Jamie McGrath put them ahead after 17 seconds before Jeremy Bokila levelled before the break.

Martin Boyle restored Hibs’ lead before late drama unfolded.

The visitors could not have asked for a better start after McGrath found the net just moments after kick off.

Hibs striker Thibault Klidje nodded the ball back into the Irishman’s path and McGrath drilled a left-footed half volley past Jerome Prior via the post.

The hosts looked stunned but McGrath did not care as he wheeled away to celebrate in front of the big travelling support.

Hibs had their tails up and went looking for the second in the seventh minute through Boyle.

The forward left Mo Sylla on his back as he weaved a way into the box and his low shot was comfortably saved by Prior.

Goals were then exchanged at both ends but both were disallowed. Scott Pittman coolly slotted past Hibs keeper Rafa Sallinger but referee Scott pulled the play back for a foul by Bokila on defender Grant Hanley in the build up.

Hibs defender Rocky Bushiri then volleyed in from close range but the DR Congo international was standing in an offside position from Hanley’s header.

Livingston then scored what was deemed a valid goal that came from a flowing move.

Joshua Brenet darted forward from a Liam Smith pass and flicked the ball to Scott Pittman on the side of the box.

The midfielder picked out Bokila and the forward did not have to break his strike as he placed a composed first-time shot past Sallinger.

Hibs started the second period well as they looked to regain the lead.

Boyle fired a first-time shot straight at Prior but the Australia international was not to be denied in the 55th minute.

Miguel Chaiwa found Josh Mulligan following a forceful run and the wing-back picked out Boyle.

The forward controlled with his right boot before turning and firing past Prior from six yards.

Hibs looked comfortable for most of the second half but were forced into some last-ditch defending with five minutes left.

Hanley blocked an Andrew Shinnie shot before Sallinger got his legs in the way of a tame effort from Tete Yengi.

But Livingston grabbed a draw as Carey scored an injury-time penalty after Cadden was penalised for blocking Daniel Finlayson’s header with his arm.
