Scotland head coach Melissa Andreatta hopes Caroline Weir’s homecoming can inspire her team at East End Park.
Dunfermline-born Weir will play at the venue where she watched her childhood heroes play when Scotland host Switzerland in a friendly on Tuesday night.
The Real Madrid midfielder warmed up for her return to Fife with a brilliant late winner as Scotland beat Morocco 2-1 in Casablanca on Friday night.
The Ballon D’or Femme nominee chipped the goalkeeper from 40 yards with her weaker right foot after bringing down a fluffed clearance.
Quoted by BBC Scotland, Andreatta said: “You can never question an elite athlete’s motivation, that comes from inside intrinsically, but what can give them that extra step up or level up is inspiration.
“And I think she’s going to be inspired by the shouting Scots in the stand, the family and friends that she looks up to when she’s singing the anthem and the tackles, the running, the big moments that her team-mates take in the game.
“I think that’s what will inspire her and her team-mates to put in the type of performance that we want.”
