'Cannabis grinder' thrown at Rangers captain during Old Firm

Police are investigating after missiles were thrown at Rangers captain James Tavernier during Saturday’s Old Firm match.

Play was stopped during the second half of the derby at Parkhead while the player prepared to take a corner kick.

Images show Tavernier handing what appears to be a cannabis grinder to referee Willie Collum.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are aware of items thrown during the match at Parkhead on Saturday.

“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”

Missiles were also thrown at the last Old Firm derby at Ibrox when Celtic player Matt O’Riley was targeted with a bottle after scoring.

A bottle was hurled at Matt O’Reilly during the match at the Ibrox on Sunday.

Meanwhile, three arrests were made during Saturday’s match for disorder-related incidents.

Police said a 29-year-old, a 44-year-old and a 47-year-old were taken in by officers amid the Old Firm game at Parkhead.

Celtic won the match against Rangers 2-1.
