Rangers have completed the signing of Romanian international Ianis Hagi on a six-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old midfielder, son of footballing legend Gheorghe Hagi, joins from Belgian side RC Genk.

Hagi began his career with Viitorul Constanta before a move to failed move Fiorentina as a teenager in 2016.

He then returned to Constanta where he again impressed before signing for the Belgian side for around £4m, which made him one of the most expensive sales in the history of the Romanian league.

But, despite scoring three and setting up four goals in 14 league games this season, he has been allowed to move to Rangers who also have an option to buy.

Steven Gerrard says the club has been scouting Hagi, who will wear the number seven jersey at Rangers, for “some time”.

He said: “It was clear that he has the quality to help to make a difference to the team.”
