Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been charged by the Scottish FA over a challenge on Dundee United defender Mark Connolly.
The Colombian was booked for a foul on Connolly during his side’s 2-1 win at Tannadice on Sunday.
However, Morelos has now been handed a notice of complaint by the Scottish FA for a separate red card offence.
A hearing will take place on Thursday.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard leapt to his player’s defence following the incident.
Asked if he would talk to the striker, he said: “Why would I speak to him about that?
“I didn’t see an elbow. If you look at him again, there’s no elbow there. The referee saw it and dealt with it.
“It was a foul and a yellow card and it’s been dealt with. But if you look at it again, next time I see you you’ll say it wasn’t an elbow.”
