St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson says he is targeting both cup glory and European football this season.
The Paisley side took their unbeaten run in the league to six games with a 1-0 victory over Hearts at the weekend, keeping the Buddies second in the table – just two points behind leaders Celtic.
And Robinson hopes to carry that impressive league form into the Viaplay Cup on Wednesday night, when St Mirren travel to Edinburgh for a quarter-final tie against Hibs.
“I would like to do both, to be honest with you. I’d like to get into Europe and win the cup, but maybe I’m dreaming,” Robinson said on Tuesday.
“Maybe I’m fantasising a little bit. But obviously, everyone wants to win silverware.
“For fans, I think, there’s a bigger occasion rather than, you know, a drawn out league campaign that you, at the end of it, you get a chance to go into Europe ,but a one off occasion where everybody can go to Hampden and really, really enjoy their day is special.
“I’ve been lucky enough to do that twice with Motherwell. We [did] it with two semi-final wins. Fantastic occasion. And then obviously the day and the build-up to the finals.
“But yeah, that’s very much, the fans enjoy that and as a one-off occasion it would be great to give that.”
