St Mirren have reached the League Cup final after defeating Motherwell 4-1 at Hampden.

First-half goals from Mikael Mandron and Dan Nlundulu gave the Saints a commanding lead going into the break at the national stadium on Saturday night.

The Steelmen got a goal back from Callum Hendry with just under ten minutes of normal time remaining.

But just as they were looking to chase an equaliser, the Paisley side broke up the park and scored a third through Richard King to secure the win.

Mandron struck again in the last minute to put icing on the cake and send the St Mirren support home happy with a semi-final victory.

Stephen Robinson’s side will now take on either Celtic or Rangers in next month’s final as they look to lift the season’s first piece of silverware.

Mandron opened the scoring when he turned home a corner from Declan John midway through the first 45.

And Nlundulu doubled the lead with a stunning strike into the top corner on the 40th minute to make it three goals in his last games.

Hendry struck on the 82nd minute to give Motherwell some hope, but that was dashed soon after when King turned it into the net via some calamitous defending to make it 3-1.

And Mandron put the game beyond doubt in the last minute when he made it 4-1 and booked a return to Hampden next month.

The forward pounced after a long-range effort from Phillips, which cannoned off the woodwork, and curled it into the net.
