Scotland manager Steve Clarke has agreed a contract extension to lead the team through its Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

Clarke, who was appointed as boss in 2019, helped the Scotland’s men’s team to reach their first major international tournament in 16 years by guiding the country to Euro 2020.

The 57-year-old has also managed Kilmarnock, Reading, and West Bromwich Albion during his career.

Former Rangers and England goalkeeper Chris Woods and former Hearts assistant manager Austin MacPhee will also join the men’s team coaching staff.

The announcement was made shortly after Clarke named his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Scotland take on Denmark away from home on September 1, before hosting Moldova at Hampden on September 4, ahead of a Trip to Austria on September 7.

Amongst some of the notable inclusions to Clarke’s squad are St Johnstone goalkeeper Zander Clark, who won the Scottish and League cups last season, whilst Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson is also included.

Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean, who missed Euro 2020 due to injury, is recalled to the squad, alongside his team-mate Billy Gilmour, who is on loan at Norwich from Chelsea and who starred against England at Wembley during Euro 2020.
