Two Scottish stadiums have been included in an official bid from the United Kingdom to host the Women’s World Cup.
Hampden Park, in Glasgow, and Easter Road, in Edinburgh, are among the grounds lined up to host matches at the tournament in 2035.
If the bid is successful, then games will be played in total of 22 stadiums in 15 cities across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The four UK associations officially submitted their bid to stage the 48-team finals to FIFA on Friday, with no other bidders in the running.
Some of the other cities included in the bid are London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, Belfast, Manchester and Newcastle.
Sixteen of the 22 stadiums included in the bid are in England, with three in Wales, two in Scotland and one in Northern Ireland.
Shirley Martin, the Scottish Football Association’s head of girls’ and women’s football, said: “Hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2035 would be transformational for girls’ and women’s football in Scotland.
“This bid is about far more than securing a global tournament — it’s about creating long-lasting opportunities, inspiring the next generation, and showcasing the incredible potential of our players, coaches, volunteers and communities.
“Scotland has a proud footballing heritage and a rapidly growing women’s game, and we believe we can deliver a tournament that is innovative, inclusive and truly world class.
“It would be a momentous milestone for the women’s game in Scotland and we are ready to rise to that challenge.”
First Minister John Swinney has pledged the Scottish Government’s support for the bid.
Swinney said: “I want a generation of young women and girls to be inspired to participate in football, increasing physical activity and enhancing opportunities for equality across sport.”
The UK proposal is the sole bid to host the tournament.
