Australia forward Jason Cummings has offered Lionel Messi some words of advice ahead of Argentina’s World Cup final against France.
The former Hibs, Rangers and Dundee star played for the Socceroos in Qatar as they reached the last-16 before being knocked out by the South Americans.
Following the game, that ended 2-1, the cameras caught him in an embrace with the superstar forward.
And he has now took to social media to share some wisdom with his new friend and offer some encouragement before the big game.
Posting on Instagram on Sunday afternoon Cummings wrote: “Do the basics right Leo. Don’t play the occasion, play the game. All the best, Cumdog. @leomessi 🐐”
Cummings swapped allegiances from Scotland to Australia after moving to play in A-League last year following a spell with Dundee.
Messi is hoping to get his hands on the World Cup for the first time in his glittering career, but he has world champions France, and PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe, standing between them and a day of glory.
The World Cup final is live on STV and STV Player and kicks-off at 3pm.
