Two SPFL matches have been postponed after clubs were hit with Covid issues.
Alloa’s League 1 clash with Falkirk has been called off on the morning of the game, as has the League 2 match between Kelty Hearts and Cowdenbeath.
A brief statement on Alloa’s website said that the SPFL had granted a postponement after Falkirk reported that Covid had left the club without enough players to fulfil the fixture.
Alloa say they have asked the SPFL for “clarification” on the Covid protocols followed by Falkirk.
Kelty Hearts say they were made aware of Cowdenbeath’s issues on New Year’s Day, ahead of the league body granting a postponement.
Kelty’s general manager Dean McKenzie said: ““Naturally we are disappointed with this mornings news, however we send our best wishes to those players involved and wish them a speedy recovery.
“We as a club were made aware of the medical issues from the SPFL yesterday Evening at around 6pm, However the SPFL were made aware of these issues from Cowdenbeath late last week.
“We were hopeful that Cowdenbeath FC would be able to resolve their playing squad issues. Sadly this hasn’t happened and therefore the SPFL had no choice but to postpone todays derby game.
“Apologies to all supporters who were attending todays game either in person at New Central Park or digitally via Kelty Hearts TV.”
The postponements are the latest to hit the SPFL’s schedule this weekend. Partick Thistle’s home match against Morton had already been postponed, as had Clyde’s game against Queen’s Park and Edinburgh City v Albion Rovers.
