‘Get that in the bin’: Celtic fans react to new home kit branded ‘a monstrosity’Celtic FC

Celtic fans have hit out online after the club revealed their new home-kit design for next season – which has been branded a “monstrosity”.

The Adidas kit, which has been inspired by the stained glass windows at the original entrance to Celtic Park, was released for pre-orders on Friday.

But the design has split opinion amongst the Hoops faithful with some describing it as “our worst kit ever”.

A black trim has been added to the club’s usual simple green and white design.

And as well as the stained glass design in the green part of the top, the Hoops have also taken an irregular squiggly pattern that has left some supporters unhappy.

After posting the kit on their social media channels on Friday morning, Celtic were bombarded by comments from unhappy fans.

One Twitter user @theadrodrynamic declared “Stained glass? Stained eyeballs ye mean” as Inside the SPFL account @AgentScotland said “This is, by a distance, the absolute worst home strip in history”.

Another tweeted “Get that in the bin” and @Eddie_Toner said “Sorry, but that’s honking”.

Meep commented “Ange left and Mooy retired because they knew this was coming” with another fan saying “this strip reminds me of the 90s, which was a bad time for us.”

@CelticJohn67 said “An absolute monstrosity, you never think to ask the fans what they want. If you did ask youā€™d find that this isnā€™t what they want” and Mick Scott urged “Get that right in the bin Celtic”.

But despite all the negative comments, others were adamant that it wouldn’t put them off buying it, with LawrieBhoy saying: “If you think Iā€™m buying 3 of that horrible monstrosity, then youā€™d be absolutely right.”

Others were a bit more complimentary, with one fan saying “Against popular opinion, I think it looks much better than the computer generated ones” and Peter Dickson commented “Love it”.

Ian Mardsen wrote “Seems I’m in a small minority, but I actually really like it.” and @Ederin158 said “I’m going to go against the grain here, I think it’s a belter with short sleeves and no sponsor.”

The top is available to pre-order with prices ranging from Ā£55 for child sizes to Ā£70 for adult and Ā£80 for the long sleeve version.
