Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass says he may have to add to his transfer plans if Andy Considine or Ryan Hedges are ruled out long-term with injuries.
Considine was stretchered off on Thursday night after injuring his knee during the Europa Conference League play-off with Qarabag, while Hedges was on crutches after a hamstring injury sustained against Raith Rovers last weekend.
The Dons are still waiting to learn the extent of both injuries and Glass could be adding extra bodies before the transfer deadline on September 1.
We were always looking to strengthen anyway,” he said.
“What it does is make it a bit more pressing, but the end of the window is coming up anyway. The aim was to come out the window stronger than we went in.
“If these become long-termers then that does change things a little bit but the aim is still the same, to be stronger when we come out of it.”
Considine’s injury looks to be the more serious of the two and Glass maintains that it was caused by a poor playing surface in Baku. Aberdeen chairman had publicly questioned before the match why UEFA allowed the tie to be played on the pitch, while Glass said afterwards that it had been a factor in Considine being stretchered off.
“Those comments were not coming from an emotional place, that was factual,” he said.
“You are talking about a guy who has played close to 600 games and never done anything like that in his whole career. So for that to happen, from a fairly innocuous challenge, it points everything towards the pitch.
“It’s a fact the pitch was a disgrace and I think their people would agree with that.”
