Armand Gnanduillet looks set to leave Hearts this month after being granted permission to talk to another club.
Manager Robbie Neilson confirmed that the player was free to leave if a deal was agreed, after the Frenchman failed to win a regular first team starting spot at Tynecastle.
Neilson didn’t specify which club was targeting the forward but he has been linked with a return to France and a contract with Le Mans.
“Armand is speaking to another club,” he revealed. “He has been given permission to speak to them. He is trying to get something sorted.
“If he gets something sorted, he goes with our best wishes. If he doesn’t, then he will come back in with us.”
A move would bring to an end an unsuccessful spell in Edinburgh, with Gnanduillet scoring only once this season.
Neilson said he was intending to pursue another signing to bolster his attack, regardless of whether Gnanduillet is off the books.
“We were always going to recruit in that department anyway.” he said. “It just means we will probably need to speed it up.
“But they key thing is always to make sure we get the right player. If that takes a bit longer, then it takes longer.”
