Steve Clarke has named his Scotland side to face Poland with Greg Taylor handed a chance to impress on the left side of the defence.

Celtic full-back Taylor, who has five caps, takes up the position on the left flank normally taken by Scotland captain Andy Robertson after the Liverpool star tested positive for Covid.

Nathan Patterson, who has had very limited game time for Everton since moving to the English Premier League side, starts on the right flank.

Clarke spoke before the game about his desire to keep momentum after an impressive set of results in 2021, with a crucial World Cup play-off against Ukraine to come.

Though he called up new faces to the squad, with Aaron Hickey, Craig Halkett and Ross Stewart included in the group, he has picked an experienced starting line-up.

Craig Gordon is in goal, with Kieran Tierney, Grant Hanley and Scott McTominay in a three-man defence and Taylor and Patterson either side. John McGinn, who captains the side, is part of a midfield three with Callum McGregor and Billy Gilmour.

Ryan Christie plays in support of striker Che Adams in attack.
