Hearts beat Rangers 1-0 to make Scottish Cup semi-final

Hearts have knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup after a 1-0 win saw the Tynecastle side progress to the last four.

Oliver Bozanic scored the winning goal after the home side capitalised on slack defending just before the hour mark.

The Australian midfielder got on the end of a Lewis Moore cutback to emphatically finish.

Rangers struggled as the game went on, looking visibly tired following their midweek heroics.

Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi created moments of inspiration but not enough to break down a stubborn Hearts defence.

Steven Gerrard’s side wanted a penalty on 34 minutes when Kent burst into the box and appeared to be blocked by Loic Damour but the claims were ignored.

George Edmundson missed two guilt-edged headers in the last 11 minutes of normal time, allowing Daniel Stendel’s men to hold on for victory.

However, the Edinburgh side could be without key player John Souttar for some time after the defender pulled up with an injury early on in the first half.
