Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland has been announced as Rangers’ first signing of the close season.
The Scotland international has agreed a two-year deal with the Glasgow club, with an option to extend the deal by another year.
The striker is joining his boyhood team for free after a break clause in his three-year Hearts contract, which he signed last July, was activated.
Shankland has described the move to Ibrox as a “long time coming”.
He said: “When I heard the interest was real this week, I was really tempted.
“Obviously being your boyhood club, it’s always a dream to play for them.
“I was really keen to get it done to be honest.”
Shankland was crucial in the Jambos’ title charge, which saw the Edinburgh club lose out on the final day to Celtic at Parkhead.
The 30-year-old joined Hearts in 2022 from Belgian outfit Beerschot and has scored 88 goals in 171 games over the last four seasons.
He bagged 24 league goals in each of the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
Shankland is set to join Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad in North America as the side prepare for their first World Cup campaign in 28 years.
