Hearts have made their eighth signing of the summer, announcing the arrival of midfielder Tomas Bent Magnusson.
The 22-year-old made the move from Icelandic side Valur, signing a three-year deal, subject to international clearance. He won’t be able to face Aberdeen in Monday night’s Premierhsip match but the club are delighted to have secured his signature.
“I’m pleased we’ve been able to bring Tomas in ahead of tonight’s game,” head coach Derek McInnes said.
“He’ll bring a presence to the middle of the park with his height and athleticism, and he’s a very dynamic player in that he can both defend and attack.
“I’m looking forward to working with him in the weeks and months ahead.”
The central midfielder, who Hearts describe as “tall and energetic” began his career at IBV and made his professional debut during a loan at KF Framherjar-Smastund at the age of 16.
His performances after his return to IBV earned a move to Valur earlier this year, where he became a League Cup winner, and played in Europe for the first time this month.
Magnusson scored twice in three Conference League games against FC Flora and Kauno Zalgiris but will now turn his attention to helping Hearts achieve their abitions this season with a high league finish and qualification in Europe, as well as cup success.
