Hearts keep Conference League dream alive with comeback win over Rosenborg

Hearts have kept their Europa Conference League dream alive with a dramatic comeback win over Rosenborg at Tynecastle.

Cammy Devlin was the hero as he hit a double, including an injury-time winner, to book their place in the playoffs with a 3-1 win in Edinburgh on Thursday.

The Norwegians opened the scoring to go 3-1 up on aggregate after five mins when Isak Thorvaldsson put the ball over the line from close range.

Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark done well to keep the first effort out but the Rosenborg forward was on hand to turn home the rebound.

The game remained on a knife-edge at half-time with the visitors leading the tie by a single goal as Barrie McKay was brought on to another attacking option for the home-side.

They narrowly avoided a moment of calamity when a mix up in the box almost lead to a disastrous own goal but luckily Nathanial Atkinson was on hand to clear the ball before it got across the line.

And just moments later they had the ball in the net up the other end when Cammy Devlin smashed home the rebound after Liam Boyce’s shot was well saved.

This made it 3-3 on aggregate and all square in the tie with over 40 minutes still remaining and Hearts looking like the team in the ascendency.

And just as it looked as if extra-time was inevitable, Devlin scored again in injury time to put Hearts ahead in the tie for the first time and book a date with Greek side PAOK in the playoffs.
