A late Hearts leveller from Craig Halkett prevented the Tynecastle side from falling further behind in the relegation battle.
Daniel Stendel’s men could not afford to lose against Premiership rivals Hamilton but found themselves two behind in the opening 16 minutes after a double from Marios Ogkmpoe.
The Greek striker finished after a cross from the left for the opener and added a second from the penalty spot, before Accies had Jamie Hamilton sent off.
Hearts mounted the pressure in torrential conditions from there on out and pulled one back through Jamie Walker minutes after the restart.
The winger finished neatly after being found expertly by Steven Naismith and made it 2-1.
And, when the clock hit 87 minutes, Halkett brought them back on level terms when he headed home a Conor Washington cross to ensure his side remain a point behind Accies in the table.
Elsewhere Billy Mckay netted in stoppage time for Ross County to rescue a point against St Johnstone, who had went ahead in the first half through Stevie May.
