Hearts have confirmed the signing of Australia under-23 right-back Nathaniel Atkinson.
The 22-year-old will officially join the Edinburgh club from Melbourne City on a three and a half year deal on January 1.
The move is also subject to Visa approval.
Atkinson represented Australia at the 2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo and has played beside current Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin at international level.
He played at right wing-back for wins against Spain and Argentina at the postponed Tokyo games which were played in 2021.
Robbie Neilson says he is “delighted” to have his new recruit on board.
Speaking to the club’s website the Hearts manager said: “He’s a really talented player and very highly thought of in Australia, so it’s a bit of a coup to get him.
“He’ll bring energy and ability to the team and the competition for places will raise levels throughout the squad.
“I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
